On 11 February, the European Parliament Conference of Presidents adopted a statement of solidarity with Ukraine as we approach three years since the start of Russia’s illegal war of aggression.
The adoption of the statement coincided with a formal address by Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's Parliament), who also met with Renew Europe President Valérie Hayer MEP.
The debate in the European Parliament’s Plenary session comes as the new US administration is expected to provide insights into its strategy for Ukraine in the coming days.
“Ukrainians fighting for their freedom do not tire and we have no right to either. We call on the EU and its Member States to increase and speed up the delivery of support and impose further sanctions on the Russian war machine. A comprehensive, just, and lasting peace must be based on the Ukrainian peace formula,” said Hayer.
