Ministers unpack Clean Industrial Deal ahead of ENVI Council

On 27 March, seven Ministers and Secretaries of State from our political family aligned positions on key files ahead of the Environment Council of the European Union (ENVI). 

In a discussion chaired by Sigrid Friis MEP (Radikale Venstre, DK), participants discussed how our political family can make a difference in recent and upcoming EU legislative proposals. 

In particular, participants examined the environmental focus of the Clean Industrial Deal and the EU’s 2040 agri-food strategy, aiming for a sustainable, competitive sector that ensures farmer incomes, resilience, rural vitality, and harmony with nature. 

Participants included: 

  • Jean-Luc Crucke, Belgium’s Minister for Mobility, Climate and Environmental Transition 
  • Andres Sutt, Estonia’s Minister of Energy and Environment (Reformierakond, EE) 
  • Agnès Pannier-Runacher, France’s Minister of Ecological Transition, Energy and Risk Prevention 
  • Romina Pourmokhtari, Sweden’s Minister of Climate and Environment (Liberalerna, SE) 
  • Timmy Dooley, Ireland’s Minister of State with responsibility for Fisheries and Marine and former ALDE Party Co-President (Fianna Fáil, IE) 
  • Krzysztof Bolesta, Poland’s Secretary of State in Ministry of Climate and Environment 
  • Uroš Vajgl, Slovenia’s Secretary of State in Ministry of Environment, Climate and Energy

🌍⚙️ Ahead of the #ENVI Council, liberal ministers came together to unpack the Clean Industrial Deal - diving into how we reach our climate goals. 🇺🇦 They also addressed the environmental fallout of Russia’s war on Ukraine, in the discussion chaired by @sigridfriis.bsky.social MEP.
