On 23-26 January, the Alliance Of Her hosted its first Academy session for the Class of 2025 as 22 ambitious liberal women from 19 European countries met to kickstart their political journey.

During the first of three sessions at the Domaine de Ronchinne in Belgium, academy participants focused on building their political strategy, creating their personal brand and crafting the leadership skills needed to survive and thrive in politics.

The retreat was attended by ALDE Party Vice-President Lucia Plaváková and European Parliament Vice-President Martin Hojsík MEP from ALDE Party member Progresívne Slovensko in Slovakia.

Vice-President Plaváková received the Women in Politics Champion of the Year Award for her activism in advancing LGBTQIA+ equality and fighting for Slovakia’s European future.

“This time I brought home an award from my business trip. I appreciate it very much. Challenging times lie ahead and I will continue to strive to make Slovakia a strong place in Europe. And to uphold the fundamental democratic values on which it is built - equality, solidarity and freedom,” she said.

In 2024, the Alliance Of Her network grew to over 250 members, further cementing itself as a respected and popular programme aimed at inspiring, empowering, supporting and equipping its participants with what they need to achieve their political goals.

The Alliance Of Her Academy benefits from generous support of our partners, including the European Parliament. As such, all participants must meet strict eligibility criteria, in addition to demonstrating clear leadership talent and ambition. Participants are also informed of the prohibition to run in an election campaign during the academy or up to 12 months after the termination of the program. If this condition is not respected, participants will be required to cover costs independently or with a ‘substantial’ contribution from their political party.
