On 4-6 April, young liberals from all over Europe met for the Spring Congress of the European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) in Zagreb, Croatia.

The event was co-hosted by ALDE Party members in Croatia HSLS (Croatian Social Liberal Party), HNS (Croatian People's Party – Liberal Democrats) and IDS-DDI (Istrian Democratic Assembly, as well as their youth wings.

The Congress was opened by keynote speeches from ALDE Party Vice-President Yevheniia Kravchuk (Servant of the People, UA), Renew Europe President Valérie Hayer MEP and leaders of ALDE Party members in Croatia.

“Freedom and democracy are not just values, they’re a fight. Today, Europe’s youth must lead this fight. Hours after I spoke at the Congress, Russian missiles hit Kryvyi Rih, killing 19 people, nine of which children. This is not just war, it's an attempt to erase a free generation. Ukrainian youth is already resisting – many at the frontline. European youth must act too!” said Vice-President Kravchuk.

During Congress, delegates voted to approve Mladi PSG, the youth wing of ALDE Party member PSG in Serbia, as a new full member of LYMEC.

Over the course of the weekend, young liberals discussed bureau reports, took part in debates and voted on resolutions surrounding topics such as security, defence and the protests in Serbia
