Women in power: How they thrive and survive

Women in power: How they thrive and survive

Ahead of International Women’s Day, the European Liberal Forum, the Alliance of Her and the Merode co-organize a panel discussion and book launch to talk about what is it like at the summit of power. We will hear from current and former leaders on how they have challenged the non-legal barriers for women in politics and business.

Speakers include:

  • Marta Kos, EU Commissioner for Enlargement
  • Former MEP Anna Donáth (Momentum Mozgalom, HU)
  • Romina Pourmokhtari, Minister for Climate (TBC) (Liberalerna, SE)
  • Diane Thibaut de Maisières, Belgium’s 40 under 40

In her new book “Confronting the 10 Traps of Power – A survival guide for women (and men) in politics”, Katrien Van den broeck draws on her extensive experience in European and Belgian politics to provide a practical survival guide for navigating the challenges of power in political leadership. Aimed at both women and men, the book outlines the ten most common pitfalls that politicians face, such as isolation, perfectionism, and power struggles, and offers actionable advice for avoiding or overcoming them.
