Venstre (“Left”) has the longest track record of the two Danish ALDE Party members. It has its foundations in a pro-market approach based on a classical economically liberal ideology. Venstre has had many Prime Ministers and is currently in a coalition government, with party leader Troels Lund Poulsen as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence.

Radikale Venstre, the Danish Social Liberal Party, was formed in 1905 after splitting from the ALDE Party's other Danish member party Venstre. Antimilitarists gathered in a new social liberal wing with a bigger focus for culture and reducing social inequality. With a long track record of government participation, Radikale Venstre (“Radical Left”) provides parliamentary support to the Frederiksen cabinet. In November 2022, Martin Lidegaard became the party leader succeeding Sofie Carsten Nielsen.
