On 9 February, Kosovo held parliamentary elections to elect all 120 Members of the Assembly.
ALDE Party member PDK (Democratic Party of Kosovo) registered 22% of the national vote, cementing its place as the second political force in Kosovo.
With the final distribution of seats still to be confirmed, PDK are set to increase their seat share in the Assembly from the 19 in the previous mandate, won with a 17% vote share in the last parliamentary elections in 2021.
Kosovar liberals campaigned on a platform of electoral growth, proposing Dr. Bedri Hamza, Kosovo’s former Minister of Finance and Governor of the Central Bank, as the country’s next head of government.
The party aims to help families and pensioners with the cost-of-living crisis, increase public investments for the private sector in key projects for tourism and energy, and make progress towards Kosovo’s membership in the European Union, Council of Europe and NATO.
“Thank you to those who supported PDK and believed in our vision. Over 200,000 votes are more than a result; they are a commitment, hope and great responsibility for tomorrow. It is a victory of faith and commitment to a better Kosovo. This is just the beginning of a new chapter for our country. With heart and unwavering faith in the potential of Kosovo and our wonderful citizens, we will move forward,” said PDK leader Memli Krasniqi.
