On 7-8 February, ALDE Party member Più Europa in Italy held its 4th party Congress in Rome to elect new leadership and define its political direction for the next two-year mandate.

Riccardo Magi, Member of the Italian Parliament since 2018, was re-elected for a second two-year term as party Secretary with 69% of support from party members.

Current President of fellow ALDE Party member Radicali Italiani, Matteo Hallissey, was elected as party President reaffirming the strong collaboration between the two Italian liberal parties.

“Immense challenges lie ahead of us. We don’t have the ambition to tackle them all by ourselves, but we want to represent something which is a tiny grain of political initiative for individual freedoms, the rule of law, democracy and a more united Europe,” said Magi.
“Today, we can’t condemn ourselves to political isolationism, we can’t escape from irrelevance with centrism and moderatism. The only way forward is a new political line centred around extremism for our individual freedoms: on our rights, competitiveness, the rule of law, economy. This is the only line that has a future,” said Hallissey.

Più Europa will focus on building a clear identity that appeals to traditional supporters and new voters alike, seeking alliances to strengthen its political influence.
